With grand plans to head from Sowerby Bridge to Dewsbury via. Mirfield we had a drink at the Navigation in Mirfield. Standing at Platform 1 for the 1920 service to Dewsbury we boarded the train that arrived at 1920. The announcement broke the schedule: ‘this is the late running 1914 service to Wakefield Westgate’ meaning we were heading past Healey Mills and on to Wakefield. Making the best of a bad job we went to the Elephant & Castle near Westgate Station.
We headed back from Wakefield to Huddersfield and on to Halifax.
